Unlike other museums in Jakarta, this one is recently renovated, with better presentation materials and fun to explore. Supported by new technology to explain the history and also old money from all over the world, highly recommended for kids and adults. Very modern with contemporary art design.
The museum is located in the old kota (kota tua) district in central jakarta and is managed by Indonesia’s central bank; Bank Indonesia. the museum’s beautifully preserved architecture and excellent interactive displays inside would probably make it one of the best museums in Jakarta. Once inside, visitors are taken into a chronological journey to witness Indonesia’s economic history from the very beginning since the colonial period to the asian financial crisis of 1998 and continuing to the present era. Beautiful diorama design, audio visual features and the museum’s numismatic (coins and old money) collection makes the whole tour fascinating and definitely not boring.
