Year 9 Science Geology Field Trip to Bandung

Good luck to all our Year 9 students who are traveling to Bandung today, for an overnight field trip. They will be spending time trekking around the Tangkuban Perahu Volcano cater, observing and sketching the structure of this geological formation. They will follow some of the route that I have previously trekked, though they will not go the whole way around, due to safety considerations. Later, after lunch, they will also visit the Domas Crater, with it’s natural hot springs and geysers, Ratu Crater and Kawah Ratu.

Later in the evening they will continue their studies by watching the documentary style film form BBC, “Krakatoa: the last days”. Tomorrow morning they will be visiting the excellent Museum Geologic before returning home. Please find their schedule attached below.

The students not attending the field trip have an opportunity to work as Assistant Teachers in the primary school today and tomorrow as part of their Community and Service (CnS) obligations. They may listen to students read, assist in completing work sheets, run messages for teachers, organize photocopying, almost anything that a teacher needs to do during the day.
