MYP gains recognition from Association of Indian Universities

The Singapore Office of the International Baccalaureate has announced that they have signed an agreement with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) that the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme is equal to grade 10 of an India Board Assessment Certificate.

This means that an MYP student can apply to schools in India for further studies in Grade 11 and Grade 12. This has been an issue for many students, in India and international schools around the world. (and thus an issue for schools teaching the MYP and trying to convince their parents that the MYP is rigorous and worthwhile.) Now Indian nationals studying abroad in IB World Schools will be able to take their MYP assessments back to India, obtain an equivalence certificate from the AIU and gain admission into Grade 11 in any school in India.
